CHANCE started playing football, when he was 6 years old—Pee-wee football— and played in grade school, middle school, and high school. We lived in Craig, Colorado. So all sports were with Moffat County, Colorado. With Chance Footballthe exception of his senior year when he played football for Palisade High, in the Grand Junction Valley.

His senior year, 2002, Palisade went to the state play-offs, where they lost the playoff game by one touch-down against Florence, CO. Chance's offensive position was tight-end.

He started as a youngster in Pee-wee wrestling and wrestled all through high school. He also played basketball,
and baseball. During the summers Chance
spent with his dad in Dubois, Wyoming,
he played little league ball.

He got real serious about baseball
the last 2 years of high school. At
Palisade (during the spring) he
played an outfield position on the
varsity team. He was trying out for the
pitcher position. When they clocked
Chance's pitch—he had a fastball
of 92mph; not real accurate, but
fast—the coach realized he might
have some potential as a pitcher.
