| The first major fund-raising event for CPF was a 1500-mile walk that started 11 February 2007 on the Marine Corps Base, Twenty-Nine Palms, California and ended on Memorial Day in Dubois,Wyoming. Gretchen Mack, (President/Founder of CPF) and daughter Kelley Phelps-Orndoff made this journey to honor Gretchen’s son, (Kelley’s brother) Marine Lance Corporal Chance R. Phelps, who was killed during combat operations in Al Anbar Province, Iraq 9 April 2004. Above, Jeff Mack walks a portion of the route with Kelley. |
