A bronze to honor Fremont County Veterans will be
dedicated in Lander, July 16, 2011


The statue was sculpted by John Phelps using his son Chance as a model.

CPF received pictures of the Run4Chance event held in Kandahar, Afghanistan last May! The event was organized by Breanne Baker Clark (pictured). Marine, Army, Air Force and Navy runners participated. Clark said runners from other countries and contractors participated in the run.

On Nov 13, 2010 Lt General John Kelly, USMC gave a speech to the Semper Fi Society of St. Louis, MO. This was 4 days after his son, Lt Robert Kelly, USMC was killed by an IED while on his 3rd Combat tour. Read an excerpt here, and find a link to read the entire speech.

Hunting Trip for Vet
October 21-25, 2010 Sgt Bruce Dempster, Army Natl. Guard from Lander, WY (2 tours in Iraq veteran) had a successful Elk hunting expedition in Colorado. The hunt was donated by co-sponsor Massey Guides & Outfitters and The Chance Phelps Foundation.

Wyoming Honor Flight 2010
World War II veterans flew to Washington DC. free of charge May 18, 2010 to tour the World War II Memorial. According to an article posted on the 153rd Airlift Wing web site, 110 Wyoming vets made the trip to see their memorial. Vets also toured the Korean and Vietnam War memorials, and several other memorials in Washington DC. Since its creation, the Wyoming Honor Flight has sent 225 WWII vets to Washington DC.

MikeOn May 1st 2010, Mike Ehredt, a retired Postal Clerk and Army Veteran, touched the wheel of his jogger stroller in the Pacific Ocean in Astoria, OR and began an epic 4514 mile journey across the country to Honor and Remember Service Members lost in Iraq. He is currently placing flags that hold a yellow ribbon bearing the Name, Rank, Service, Age and Hometown of those whose dreams and ambitions were taken so quickly from us. The flags are being placed each mile along the roads he is traveling in reverse chronological order by date of death, till the very last flag is placed on the shores of the Atlantic in Rockland, Maine.
