IT ALL STARTED WITH A LONG WALK!

The first major fund-raising event for CPF was a 1500-mile walk that started 11 February 2007 on the
Marine Corps Base, Twenty-Nine Palms, California and
ended on Memorial Day in Dubois,Wyoming. Gretchen Mack, (President/Founder of CPF) and daughter Kelley Phelps-Orndoff made this journey to honor Gretchen’s son, (Kelley’s brother) Marine Lance Corporal Chance R.
Phelps, who was killed during combat operations in Al Anbar Province, Iraq 9 April 2004.

A RUN4CHANCE Event was organized at a NATO base in Afghanistan by Breanne Baker Clark. Marine, Army, Air Force, Navy and contractor runners participated, and runners from other countries.
